All right, so it's only been a few days, so you can see I'm still keeping up with this thing .. :).
Anyway, this past week has been pretty good. I don't recall any specific events other than Tuesday night's viewing of House & being extremely excited about the kiss & waiting for this week's episode to amaze me even more! Of course, last night's Halloween fun was absolutely spectacular! We played Wofford (and won by about 70-24 or something close to that). It was a fantastic game, no matter how cold we all were. Our floor decided to go mostly as superheroes and/or villains. We allowed a loose interpretation of the term heroes. For example, I was Mario, Sarah was Luigi, Justin was the Hulk, JP was Two-Face, David was the most amazing Joker I've ever seen - creepy! Ashley was Tomb Raider, Sexy Kyle was Hugh Hefner, Can-I Kyle was "Captain Redneck" married to his cousin, AKA Josh's character - Hannah Montana!! We had Emily as Buttercup, Kate as bubbles, and Tessa as Blossom - the Powerpuff Girls... funny. Chris was Daniel Boone for a little while, but let Casey take over since Casey didn't have a costume... Christopher wore a Scream mask instead. Wilson was Gunther (points to anyone who knows who he is) and Chad was... well, I'm not sure exactly, but his costume was amazing with the NERF gun at the game. There were tons others, I just don't remember them all.
Apart from last night's fun, the past week has been interesting for me. I've just been thinking a lot about the past and things that have happened... the only good thing that came from that thinking has been me being able to write again. I don't necessarily mean poetry.. it's more like 1-3 sentence random quotes/sentences.
I kind of want to write a book, like a real, realistic fiction type of book, but I know I'm not there yet with my skill. So for now, I'm going to focus on what I know I can do... children literature. I don't know exactly what topics I'd write about. I know I want to write a bunch of kid friendly books about certain disorders, but maybe I'd like to write the average children's book, too.
Anyway...
Today would be Rachel's 20th birthday (yeah, pretty big age difference for being best friends back then). I remember when we had just become good friends, both of us were into sports and we loved dressing in sweats, hoodies, big tee shirts, etc. We were watching tv one day, and there was something on TV about how girls should dress up and how boys should be the ones wearing jeans and hoodies and sweatpants, etc. We decided that we would only dress up on special occasions. Then we made a pact to, for each others birthday, both dress up and include the others favorite color. So today, on her birthday, I'm wearing a Maurice's dress with pink (her favorite despite its girly-ness) and green (my favorite).
It's been kind of weird today. I'm in a new environment where nobody knows about what happened - not one single person. Looking "nice" and "dressed up" wouldn't be so weird if people weren't asking me about it. It takes everything I have to say "it's just a tradition I have for November first" without getting teary eyed and wanting to just run away. A few people pressed further "what tradition". I just kind of glossed over it... "oh, my best friend and I made a deal a few years back to dress up and wear each others favorite colors on our birthday...". "Cool," they say.
Yeah... if only they all knew.....
